Thomas de Cruz Architects & Designers specialises in bespoke contemporary homes for private clients. Based in Chiswick, West London, we are an experienced small practice of more than 20 years standing and our primary design philosophies are timelessness, clean lines, space, light, connection with the garden or landscape and response to climate.

Our creative and open outlook absorbs ideas and influences from around the world to produce sensitive contemporary architecture with an emphasis on imaginative interiors and creative lighting. We work on all budgets from £150K to £5m+ and offer a personal service with an emphasis on providing creative and emotionally uplifting design solutions which respond as much to clients’ individual lifestyle needs and aspirations, as to broader architectural and practical needs.

In principal, we choose quality over quantity and prefer to work with clients who are looking for high quality contemporary design and creativity and want to enjoy the creative journey to an exceptional end result. Most of our work is extending and remodelling existing buildings in London and the South East, and we have particular experience in Conservation Areas and on Listed buildings.

Our new build projects are spread around the UK and we can offer a full architectural service at no extra cost on any project we can get there and back to in a day. Many of our projects are set in beautiful surroundings, including Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where we exploit the falls of the land and the views.

We will also work anywhere in the world for the right project. Over the years we have worked on stunning projects in Spain, France, Romania, St Lucia, Malaysia, Sweden, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Jamaica, Ireland, Australia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Antigua and the USA. We have particular experience in hot country design, making the building defensive against the sun and other climatic extremes.

We can offer either ad hoc services or, more commonly, a turnkey service from inception to completion. This includes planning permission, a full set of construction drawings and overseeing the Contract administration on site, right up to the end of the Defects Period, one year after completion.
